Thurgood Marshall Academy (TMA) is a charter public high school in a low-income Southeast Washington, D.C. neighborhood that also suffers from very low graduation rates. Despite TMA's short operating history, CSDC's NMTCs helped TMA qualify for $14 million in financing to renovate a vacant and deteriorating district school facility in historic Anacostia and reduce its debt service to correlate to its cash flow.

Even though 70% of Thurgood Marshall students start high school at a fifth-grade reading level, 100% of its first five graduating classes have been accepted to college.
